Let's enjoy Kochi City!
MY-YU BUS offers an efficient way to visit major sightseeing spots in Kochi City, such as Harimayabashi, Makino Botanical Garden, Chikurin-ji Temple, and Katsurahama Beach. Here are some of the recommended sightseeing spots to visit on the MY-YU BUS!
Harimayabashi (get off at the Harimayabashi) is also known for the phrase of Yosakoi Bushi and the love story of Junshin and Ouma. This historic bridge, built in the Edo period, is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Kochi.
At the Makino Botanical Garden (get off at the Makino Botanical Garden), which is connected to Tomitaro Makino, the main character of NHK's TV series "Ranman," visitors can appreciate over 3,000 varieties of plants and enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the seasons. The garden has various facilities such as a conservatory, the Makino Museum of Plants & People, and the Research Communication Center for Plant Resources, where visitors can see a variety of plants throughout the seasons: cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, lilies and water lilies in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and Coptis quinquefolia in winter.
Kochi Prefecture has many places associated with figures who were active at the end of the Edo period and during the Meiji Restoration. Among them, Ryoma Sakamoto is a central figure in the history of Kochi Prefecture. Don't miss the 5.3-meter-high statue of Ryoma Sakamoto standing at Katsurahama Beach (get off at Katsurahama), one of Kochi's most famous scenic spots, and the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum (get off at Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum), where Ryoma's letters to his family and friends are on display. How about following in the footsteps of Ryoma and other famous historical figures while enjoying the magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean?
As a benefit of this ticket, you can also enjoy unlimited rides on streetcars running east-west and north-south around Harimayabashi (only within the flat-rate zone)! To get to Kochi Castle (get off at Kochijo mae), which is called the "Famous castle in Nankaido," please take the streetcar. It is the only castle in Japan where the entire Honmaru structure, including the castle tower and palace, has survived from the Edo period, and is also known as "Takajo" (Hawk Castle). The observation lobby on the top floor of the Kochi Castle Museum of History, located at the foot of Kochi Castle, is a recommended spot for taking a photo of the preserved castle tower and Otemon Gate in a single photo.
Please enjoy sightseeing in Kochi at a great value with the MY-YU BUS, which not only takes you to major sightseeing spots but also gives you access to streetcars and special discounts!
