Locals call it "Izuppako" a play on the name of the company. There are many sightseeing spots along the railway line, including a spectacular view spot of Mt. Fuji, Mishima Taisha Shrine, Izu Nagaoka Onsen, Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace, and Shuzenji Onsen. It is a local line that is loved by the area as an important means of transportation for local residents along the line.
Mishima Taisha Shrine (about 7 minutes walk from Mishima Tamachi Station) is located in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, known as the city of water and eels and is one of the most important power spots in Izu. The main shrine of Mishima Taisha is one of the largest in Japan along with Izumo Taisha in Shimane Prefecture! In the Shinrokuen (Deer Park) at the back of the shrine grounds there are many deer that were acquired from the Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara to heal worshippers.
The Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace (about 20 minutes walk from Izu Nagaoka Station) is a historic site of a melting furnace that made an iron cannon at the end of the Edo period. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2015. There are only two existing reverberatory furnaces in Japan, Nirayama and Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is a valuable industrial heritage at the adjacent product building, you can also taste "Bread Ancestor's Bread" which is the first bread reproduced in Japan and is a popular souvenir.

In addition to the inns loved by writers such as Edogawa Rampo, there are also footbaths where you can easily stop by and a comfortable Tokko-no-yu along the Katsura River.
As for gourmet, the specialty product "Mishima potato" at the western foot of Hakone is a high-quality potato that is traded at the top price in Japan. "Mishima Croquette" which was born from the local desire to spread the taste, started selling in 2008 and is now appearing in TV dramas. It is famous nationwide as a B-class gourmet in Mishima City.
